At the invitation of the Mongolian side, Mr. Wang Zhicai, Chief Livestock Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, and his delegation visited Mongolia from Oct. 10 to 14, 2016. Mr. Wang had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Sergelen, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia, and conducted a field study on the full industrial chain development of local livestock sector. He put forward pragmatic proposals on enhancing bilateral cooperation in livestock product processing and veterinary service.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation visited local herdsman households, large-scale farms, slaughter houses and meat processing companies to get a better understanding of the full industrial chain development. They also made a study tour to the central veterinary health laboratory and quarantine station of Mongolia for a comprehensive knowledge about their veterinary research, management and service system.
Livestock is one of the pillar industries of Mongolia and accounts for a significant share of national economy. The Chinese delegation carried out in-depth communication with the Mongolian side on boosting intensive livestock production, strengthening cooperation in livestock product deep processing and veterinary service, and encouraging more Chinese enterprises to invest in Mongolia's agricultural sector. The two sides pledged to maintain close ties and push the China-Mongolia livestock cooperation to a new stage.
